by Kathy Lynn Emerson (read June 2006)
A former mistress of Lady Appleton's late husband is charged with witchcraft and Susanna decides to help her with great peril to herself. I give this book a rating of 4. I am really enjoying this series, it's definitely a step above most cozy mysteries. Emerson writes intelligently and depicts the time period well.

I read Face Down Among the Winchester Geese (I had wanted to start with #1, but our library only had this one) and really enjoyed it. Like you said, it's a cozy mystery. Someday I'll get my hands on the rest. I'm interested in what happens to Susana's husband and if a romance blossoms with her and whats-his-name.
Julie, our library doesn't carry any of the Face Down Mysteries either. I had to buy them used from Amazon. It's worth finding out what happens with Susanna and her husband and what's-his-name. There have been some surprises. What are you reading now days?
Does that mean there's no chance of you getting the shivers at night, Booklogged?
By the way, I was pleasantly surprised to be warmly welcomed by your blog that hung around to open its front door to me.
No more running away, I guess.
lots of love
wow you have read a lot of books. I will never keep up (in fact, I'm not even trying)
Cassie, I think you will be surprised as you keep track just how many books you read, too. I wasn't a reader when I was young like your mother was. I didn't start reading regularly until I was 35 or 40, so you have a big jump on me.
Susan, the front door is wide open, always welcoming you in.
Lorelei, I don't know who Sam Wright is, do I? But I went to your blog - I love Denver.
