The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

by Kate DiCamillo

Kate DiCamillo won a Newberry Medal for The Tale of Despereaux and a Newberry Honor Award for Because of Winn-Dixie. The idea for this book came from a gift and a dream. One Christmas the author received a ceramic rabbit; the next night she dreamed he was laying face down on the ocean floor.

Edward Tulane is a very elegant, ceramic rabbit who belongs to Abilene, a young girl who adores and cares for Edward. When her family moves to America, Edward is lost in the ocean. This delightful, and sometimes sad, book is about Edward's journey and what he learns along the way.

When you got this book I thought it looked interesting. I'm going to have to put it on my TBR list. Maybe I'll read it over spring break.

Hey. I just snuck over her to tell you that if you do read Hobb, make sure you read The Farseer trilogy first. I made the mistake of not, and I guess it makes a big difference. :)

Well, I can also comment on this book, I want to read it. I have liked the couple books I have read by her so far.

I really liked Winn-Dixie. She is a fantastic writer. Desperaux is on my list and I think this one is also.

I loved Desperaux; I'll have to add this one to my list, too!

This book made me, my instructional assistant and my class cry. While it's poignant, we all liked The Tale of Despereaux even better.

This was the last book I completed in 2006. I loved it! And the illustrations are fabulous.

I have this on my Personal Genre Challenge list. It's another personification book that I'm not too fond of, but am going to give it a shot as I did THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX.
