by Lisa ScottolineOver the last few years I have added Lisa Scottoline to my list of favorite authors and am always on watch for the release of her latest work. Look Again was released in April 2009. When I spotted it at the library a few days ago, I added it to the stack of books I was checking out.
I have come to expect suspenseful mysteries from Scottoline, this one was not very suspenseful, but as a contemporary life drama it was excellent.
Here's the premise of Look Again
- When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops. The child in the photo looks exactly like her adopted son, Will. Could the child in the photo really be her son?Everything inside her tells her to deny the similarity between her son and the photo, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth. And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up?
She investigates, uncovering clues no one was meant to discover, and when she digs too deep, she risks losing her life — and that of the son she loves.

(taken from the author's website)I disagree with the "heart-pounding thriller" notion, but I still recommend this book.

This one sounds as if it belongs on my TBR stack, which is now more a mountain (or set of hills) at this point. Help--so many books, so little time!

Wow. This sounds like an emotionally charged book. I've only read one Lisa Scottoline book and I did enjoy it. I hope to read more by her in the future, including this one. Thanks for the great review.
Sounds like this might be a worthwhile read. I've only read one of Scottoline's books (Killer Smile), which I enjoyed. Not sure why I haven't gone on to read more!
LitFeline, it was a bit charged in the last quarter of the book. The implications were thought provoking.
Les, I would love it if Scottoline would write more novels dealing with the Rosato law team. Her stand-alones are real good and I enjoy them, but I'd love to get to know the previous characters better.

Sounds like a very interesting premise. I think I would really like this book, although I have not read any by this author before. It sounds like this might be a fun book to read at the beach.
