The Chunster Challenge Completed!

With the reading of Dreams Underfoot, I finished the Chunkster Challenge. It feels so good to cross a book off the list when I finished reading it and now it feels very satisfying to complete the challenge. Thanks to Bookfool for hosting this one. It's been very worthwhile. I hope you do it again next year, because I still have enough fatties for several more Chunkster Challenges.

Here's the eight books I read for this challenge:
1. The Woman in White by Wilke Collins
2. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
3. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
4. Dreams Underfoot by Charles de Lint
5. Something Rotten by Jasper Fforde
6. House of Spirits by Isabel Allende
7. Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
8. My Grandfather's Blessings by Rachel Naomi Remen

I enjoyed them all except House of Spirits, which I thought was YUCK! You can read my thoughts about each book by clicking on the title.

Congrats! This had to be a VERY fulfilling one to finish. Must make a big dent in the TBR piles! I'm definitely doing this one next year if Bookfool is kind enough to host it again ;)

Congratulations, booklogged! You have done amazingly well and read some really great books. I am afraid I failed miserably at this challenge,I am hoping the non-fiction one will redeem me!

Wow, eight chunksters!!! I am so impressed. Does this mean you only be taking some light-weight mysteries on your trip?

Wow...congrats on a HUGE list!! I just went back and read your review of Gone with the Wind (one of my all-time favs!) I agree. I liked Scarlett in the movie. She was spunky! But not at all in the book. She was so selfish and mistreated everyone, including her children. Rhett, I loved. Ashley was just a putz!! Amazing how different it seemed in film than in the pages!

Chris, Thank-you. I'll bet if enough of us beg Bookfool may consider doing the challenge again.

SuziQ, Thanks. We'll keep our fingers crossed for another Chunkster Challenge.

LitFeline, I actually have tons more chunksters kicking around. So I need to push myself.

Lotus, Times running out on the non-fiction challenge, isn't it? I may not make it. Gulp.

Lyne, Thank-you. Next Dec. we'll have to all pounce on Bookfool with our pleas.

Melissa, it's hard to type comments when my eyes are crossed, but I'm trying.

Framed, yes, only lightwieght novels for the trip.

Stephanie, I never could understand Scarlet's infatuation with Ashley. Brett was sooooo much more comely. (Who uses the word, comely?!)

Congratulations! You read some very good books. I liked House of Spirits, but then again, I'd just *met her at some English Lit thing through my sil and it had just come out.

*and by "met" her, I mean I was in the same room with dozens of others.

Wow, impressive. I am not going to make my list, sigh. Think I've been distracted by all the new books I've seen! I'm going to try finishing my chunksters by the end of 2007, anyway.
