Voyage of the Dawn Treader

by C. S. Lewis

Another delightful tale in the Chronicles of Narnia series. This one did not include Peter and Susan, but it did include the two younger children and their cousin, Eustace. The 3 children were in Eustace's bedroom when the picture on the wall came to life and they went sailing back to Narnia on the Dawn Treader.

They join Prince Caspian on his search for seven of his father's friends who were banned from the kingdom by his evil uncle. The children have many grand adventures.

One of my favorite parts is when Aslan
helps Eustace painfully peel of the dragon skin. Eustace has to start the process himself, but he is unable to finish without Aslan's help. In fact, the greater part has to be done by Aslan. Very beautiful imagery and meaning.

one of my very favorite Narnia scenes of all time is in this novel--the chapter of Eustace losing his dragon skin. So profound in so many ways

Narnia is one of the best fantasy book series I have read. The way children cannot go back to it once they grow up (and stop believing) is one of the parts I like about it actually.

Isn't the Dawn Trader the one where they go to the end of the world?

I also love the part where Aslan peels away Eustace's dragon skin. I love the series in general, but this one's in my top four.

My family's favorite character is in the Dawn Treader. Reepicheep is so brave and noble. My husband reads the Narnia books to the whole family about every 4-5 years. It makes for splendid family time.

I have not completed this particular book in his chronicles, but I've started it many times. In fact, when I was at the Printer's Row book fair a few weeks ago, I bought an anthology on Narnia. If you're curious about a certain term, or character, let me know and I'll look it up for you. (I was interested to know that my neice, Avra, was named by her mother for one of the islands in the Narnia Chronicles. I'm just not sure which book it's in.)

This was always my favourite, especially when it went on television. We used to have the videos, which were requisite watching whenever we were ill...

By the way, I just wrote a post about Chicago which I hope helps you in planning your trip. It was such a fun thing to do; thanks for asking!

I love this series with my favourite being The Silver Chair which I think is the next one after this. Dawn Treader is one of my top 3 though.

The voyage of the dawn treader is my favourite of the whole series. I found your website because I googled:'the voyage of the dawn treader' for images & your website was in the results. I like the quote you put by Bennett Cerf too. Have a great day =D!
*p/s: I'm a student from Malaysia by the way ;).
