The Armchair Traveler Reading Challenge

I thought this was the perfect challenge for me right now. I have several books in my stack that are set in Canada - getting myself stoked up for the big trip in July. I'm hoping to read a couple before we head out, so I'm not adding those to the list since the challenge doesn't start until July.

Leslie from A Life in Books is hosting this fun challenge. Isn't the button cute? The challenge runs from July 1 to Dec 31 and can include fiction or non-fiction.

1. Shadows on the Rock by Willa Cather - takes place in Quebec City
2. Latitudes of Melt by Joan Clark - takes place in Newfoundland
3. Barometer Rising by Hugh MacLennon - the setting is Halifax, Nova Scotia
4. Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder - set in Peru
5. Bones by Jan Burke - the setting is the Sierra Nevada's in California
6. Anne of Green Gables - takes place in the Prince Edward Islands

Almost all of Atwood's books take place in CA.

Oh goodness! Another challenge! What in the world will I do? I just signed up for the Book Awards challenge.

I have never read Anne of Green Gables...the shame!

I've read several of Jan Burke's novels and enjoyed them. You've reminded me that Latitudes of Melt was on my TBR list several years ago, and I never got around to reading it. The Anne books are still high on my list of comfort books!

Barometer Rising and Anne of Green Gables are both really good books!

It's a cute button, all right. You always find the most interesting titles.

Anne of Green Gables is one of my all time favorites. I read it as an adult but I would have adored her as a girl. After you read it, watch the movie with Megan Follows. It lines up with the book almost exactly.

Oh Lordy, another challenge! I don't know if I am going to get much reading done once the kids are out of school so I'll have to think carefully over this one.

I like your choice of books though, booklogged, quite perfect for your trip...enjoy!!!

Thanks for joining and I'm glad you like the button!

Another good book on the Halifax Explosion is Burden of Desire by Robert MacNeil. And Birds in Fall by Brad Kessler takes place in Nova Scotia. I also have to recommend The Shipping News, which takes place in my home province of Newfoundland!

Where are you going on your trip?
