Gossamer

by Lois Lowry

I love Lois Lowry and her books. I didn't know anything about Gossamer before reading it. Sometimes it's fun to open a book and just let the story come from the unknown. Lowry reveals the story of a inquisitive, almost transparent and courageous dream maker in a tantalizing manner. I was engaged with questions and pieces of the story that made me keep eagerly reading. She is an expert storyteller.

Gossamer is aimed at ages 9 - 12, but can be enjoyed by those of us who are MUCH older.

THe best thing about Lowry is that anyone can enjoy her books despite being written for younger readers. I just finished Gathering Blue by her yesterday and am glad to hear this one is just as good.

Thanks for the review! After reading your post, I ordered it for my daughter - she's 11 and it sounds like something she would enjoy.

I've been trying to mooch this for ages, but no one wants to give it up. Someday I will either buy it or borrow it.

I loved this one as well!

Just wondering if you could change something when you have time. I've moved from 3m's booklist to 1morechapter.com. It's still listed as the former on the sidebar.

I'm reading Lowry for the Themed Reading challenge. I hadn't read anything by her before. So far I've read The Giver and Gathering Blue and I love her. The Messenger and Number the Stars are on my List. Maybe I'll add Gossamer if I have time! I agree, she can be enjoyed be almost any age.

I love the title and the cover, which seem to fit with the little bit you revealed about the plot. Those details draw me in.

Oh, I love Lowry so much. I'm 26 and still a sucker for children's books. I've actually never heard of this one, but I'll definitely be picking it up.

I only read The Giver last year and nothing else by her, but I will definitely look for this one and more.

We just finished listening to this one in the car. It is so unique, isn't it? But then I guess all of Lowry's are!
